Why we built this
We built IWantFreeImageTools.com because image tools that upload your photos to servers make us uncomfortable. Your photos are private. We process everything in your browser using the Canvas API.
When you compress or resize an image with our tools, the image data never leaves your device. There is no server receiving your files, no storage, and no way for anyone to see your images.
How the tools work
Every tool on this site uses the browser's native Canvas API to process images. When you drop a file into the tool, it is loaded into memory as an HTML Image element. The canvas renders the image and applies the transformation (resize, compress, crop, convert). The result is then offered to you as a download.
This approach is fast (canvas operations take milliseconds), private (no network request needed), and free (no server costs means no reason to charge or limit you).
The HEIC to JPG tool uses the open-source heic2any library to handle HEIC decoding, which requires loading a library from a CDN. No image data is sent to any CDN server - only the script file is loaded.

If you own Photoshop and know it well, you do not need this site.
