How Watermarking Protects Your Images

A watermark is a visible overlay added to images to identify ownership and deter unauthorized use. Effective watermarks balance visibility (clear enough to deter theft) with non-intrusiveness (not so prominent that it ruins the image for its intended use). Center watermarks are hardest to remove but most intrusive. Corner watermarks are less intrusive but easier to crop out. Tiled watermarks that repeat across the entire image are the hardest to remove completely. Opacity affects both visibility and removability: 30-50% opacity creates a noticeable watermark that blends with the image rather than obscuring it. Text watermarks should include your business name or website URL so anyone who sees the image knows how to find the original source. Watermarks protect creative work shared on social media, stock photo sites, and in client proofs before final delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drop your photo onto the tool, type your watermark text, choose a position and adjust opacity, then click Apply Watermark. The watermark is applied entirely in your browser. Click Download to save the watermarked photo.
Bottom-right (BR) is the most common position as it is subtle but visible. For photos you are sharing on social media, center or tiled watermarks are harder to crop out. Use a position that does not cover important content in your photo.
Use the Opacity slider to reduce the watermark opacity. At 30-50% opacity, the watermark is visible but does not overwhelm the image. White text at 40% opacity is a classic subtle watermark style for photos.
This tool currently watermarks one photo at a time. Set your watermark settings, then process each photo individually. Use the same settings each time to maintain consistency across your photos.
Add a watermark with your name or website URL. Position it where it cannot easily be cropped out (center or tiled). Use an opacity of 40-60% so it is clearly visible while still showing your work.
